하느님께 희망을 두자

살아가는 동안 우리에게 필요한 것이 얼마나 많은가요! 그런데도 우리는 이를 어떻게 충족해야 할지를 모르고 있습니다. 그리고 우리에게는 얼마나 많은 소망이 있습니까! 그것도 정당하고 옳은 소망임에도 불구하고 우리는 이룰 수가 없습니다……. 그런 우리에게 예수님께서 분명하게 약속하신 말씀, 희망이 넘치는 말씀을 해주십니다. 그리고 이 말씀들은 너무나 명확하여 추호도 의심할 수 없는 말씀입니다;
 “내가 또 진실로  너희에게 말한다. 너희 가운데 두 사람이 이 땅에서 마음을 모아 무엇이든 청하면, 하늘에 계신 내 아버지께서 이루어주실 것이다. 두 사람이나 세 사람이라도 내 이름으로 모인 곳에는 나도 함께 있기 때문이다.”
 
"How many needs there are in life that we do not know how to fulfil, and how many good and legitimate desires there are that we cannot satisfy! . . . And here are Jesus’ words so full of hope and promise and spoken with such clarity that they leave no room for doubt: ‘Truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.’ (Mt 18:19-20)"
